Dr. Bette Plog is a Professor and Director of the Information Technology Institute at El Centro College.  She is responsible for credit and concurrent continuing education technology programs in Networking and Convergence Technologies, Security, Programming, PC Support, Oracle, Midrange eServer Development and Support , and Internet Development Technologies.

 

Educational Background

She holds an Ed.D. and Master of Science degrees from Texas A&M Commerce and a Master of Science and Bachelor of Music degrees from Texas A&M  Kingsville.  In addition, she has chaired the DCCCD IT Curriculum Committee for the past 20 years and is responsible for ongoing curriculum revisions.

 

Work Experience

Dr. Plog is a career educator having been in education for more than 44 years. She is completing her 39th year of service as an educator in the DCCCD.  She is responsible for establishing the Computer Information Technology program on six of the seven campuses within the DCCCD.  She also taught in several independent schools districts for four years and one year for the Department of the Army schools in Germany.  She works closely with Dallas ISD establishing Tech Prep course articulation and Dual Credit course offerings.  She was named Innovator of the Year by the Texas Technical Society, and is a member of Outstanding Educators of America and several Who’s Who organizations, was selected as one of ten State Piper Professors, and is a NISOD Master Teacher.
